The final 2026 Historical Society Presentation will be held on Monday, November 16.  Our speaker will be Marc Brier.  His topic is” For the Trouble of the House” about George Washington’s time in Montgomery County.  In the fall of 1777, George Washington and the Continental Army marched into Montgomery County. Army and civilian accounts tell us some fascinating details about where he stayed, and Washington’s expense accounts provide amazing details about the general’s room and board paid out to local civilians. These first-person narratives and original accounts will bring alive the time when everyday people experienced these extraordinary times in the county.
