-Montgomery County does not hold tire collection events. There are plenty of outlets for tire disposal as tire retailers usually accept used tires for a fee, see list at https://www.montcopa.org/2021/Tires.
-If a resident has a large number of tires or non-standard tires to dispose of, they should contact our local tire recycling company:

Regional Household Hazardous Waste Events
-In addition to the Montco Household Hazardous Waste events, Montco residents are welcome at the HHW events in Bucks, Chester, and Delaware Counties and Philadelphia at no charge. The links to the other counties’ event web pages are at MontcoPARecycles.org
-Residents have almost 30 collection event opportunities for HHW from April through November. There is no drop off facility for HHW, the County events are the only option.
-Montgomery County has partnered with Retrievr, a convenient service that comes to your doorstep to pick up your unwanted televisions, computers, cell phones, miscellaneous electronic items and clothing. Please visit www.retrievr.com for information on pricing and scheduling a pickup.
Retrievr charges a base $12.50 doorstep fee, plus convenience fees for items that are particularly hard to collect or dispose of.
*These fees can vary with your location, but typically include:
- $15 for each microwave
- $38 for each flat TV of any size, for each TV/Computer monitor less than 33 inches that uses a Cathode Ray Tube (CRT)
- $105 for each TV/Computer monitor 33 inches or higher that uses a Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) , for each wooden cabinet or rear-projection TV of any size
- $55 for each dehumidifier
- $55 for each window air-conditioner
- $55 for each mini refrigerator under 50 lbs
-Drop off options are still listed at https://www.montcopa.org/2019/Televisions
-Montco does NOT hold countywide document shredding events, but encourages municipalities to sponsor events for your residents.
-These are popular, as almost everyone has files that need to be shredded, and the County cannot provide events to cover all municipalities. There are many local shred vendors that municipalities can hire to offer this service.
-Community shred events that Montco Recycling becomes aware of are listed at this link: Document Shredding | Montgomery County, PA – Official Website (montcopa.org)
Waste Collection & Recycling
***Upper Salford Township does not regulate Trash Haulers or make suggestions to residents who they should contract with. State Senator Tracy Pennycuick’s office has recently been hearing from constituents about the issues with their trash haulers no longer providing service. Constituents are encouraged to file complaints with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General against their Trash Hauler. The Office of Attorney General has acted before against Trash Haulers who failed to comply with their contracts and failed to provide refunds to consumers who pre-paid for services and did not obtain the service. Below is the link for the consumer complaint form, which can be submitted electronically. The form can also be printed out. If constituents would prefer to submit a paper version, Senator Pennycuick’s office could submit their completed complaint form to the Office of Attorney General. Pages 4 and 5 of the printable version includes more information. https://www.attorneygeneral.gov/submit-a-complaint/consumer-complaint/
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is also aware of this problem and looking into the issue.
Inclusion in this list does not infer that the Township is in any way offering a recommendation or referral of the companies listed.
